Dr. Schmidt-Wirth is qualified to advise you on all of your health questions and concerns. Her special interest lies in the prevention of illnesses and also the care of chronically ill patients. 

Since 2021 Dr. Schmidt-Wirth has been appointed as official cooperation doctor of the German and in 2022 for the Swiss Embassy in Belgium. 


From her studies in Germany (Erlangen and Munich) and her training in Switzerland and Belgium, she has a thorough understanding of the Belgian, German and Swiss health care systems. 


Her special expertise in the area of chronically ill patients was acquired by training for four years in Switzerland at the highly renowned university hospital of General Internal Medicine in Bern. 


Before founding her own practice, Dr. Schmidt-Wirth worked as medical doctor at the Erasme University Hospital in Brussels and as GP in a large group practice in the south of Brussels. She is specialist in Internal Medicine and General Practitioner and works as of January 2024 as Specialist in Internal Medicine. 


Dr. Schmidt-Wirth researched and published in the areas of check-up, thyroid dysfunction and stroke in leading international scientific journals (I.e. Annals of Internal Medicine and Journal of the American Medical Association „JAMA“). 


It is especially important to her to apply an evidence-based approach. This means the explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of her patients while always taking into account the patient’s preferences and values.
